Thanksgiving at Hogwarts

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Thanksgiving at Hogwarts is always such an exciting food fest. There is always plenty to eat, not that there isn’t plenty to eat any other time, but the elves in the kitchen seem to work a little harder in the kitchen around Thanksgiving as they always pull out all the stops. There won’t be any empty tummies after the Thanksgiving Day dinners have all been served: tureky, dressing, stuffing, coblers, cranberries, sweet potatos, mashed potatos, gravy, pies and tarts alike will grace the tables of each and every house from the Gryffindors to the Ravenclaws. Even evil old Malfoy won’t miss out on this awesome feast. With so much food go around its amazing that non of the students have an problems with obesity. They all seem to be in pretty good shape; of course it doesn’t hurt that they are all wizards and can get rid of excess weight if they want to. No you won’t catch any Hogwarts pupils doing a daily workout on a Weslo Treadmills in order to lose weight.

You might catch one of them doing an air climber exercise, but it would be purely for laughs and humor. Hagrid does have a rather big surprise this Thanksgiving that is sure to have everyone laughing. He has been raising a giant turkey for Thanksgiving, but instead of chopping him up for the big meal, he’s planning on keeping him as a pet and as a study specimen for his Care of Magical Creatures class, which should be interesting to say the least.

A Last Minute Prank Before Thanksgiving Day

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

It is no secret that Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy simply do not get along. They are always at each other’s necks although most of the incidents between the two ar instigated by Malfoy  himself. This year, Draco Malfoy has decided that he is going to pull the prank of all pranks on Harry Potter, right before the Thanksgiving Day Feast. As always, his hopes are to terrorize, victimize and embarrass the brilliant and courageous Potter, and to get a good laugh at he and his friend Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley if he can. Why not kill three birds with one stone right? Draco’s plan was to transfigure Harry Potter into turkey, very befitting for Thanksgiving right? Well, as Hermione, Ron, and Harry were coming down the hall toward the dining hall, Draco popped out from behind a hidden corner and began to recite a spell with his wand aimed steady. However, he must have had his wand turned the wrong way and his words all wrong because instead of turning Harry into a turkey, he turned himself into a Tony Little Gazelle! It took Professor McGonagall all afternoon to get him back to his original form!

But Malfoy wasn’t finished yet. He still had one more trick up his sleeve. He decided to try and make a death potion for Harry Potter. After all, Potter had just embarrassed him in front of the entire school once again. So Malfoy concocted a potion. He slipped some into Potter’s drink at dinner time and waited. He must have read the instructions wrong again because Potter grew about 30 feet into a giant and nearly crushed Malfoy, except that Professor Dumbledore was there to bring the situation to a hault. Apparatently Malfoy had given Potter some Human Growth Hormone instead of the death potion.

Mid-Terms at Hogwarts

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

It’s that time of year again. Yes it’s midterms at Hogwarts which means that all the pupils will be studying hard to try and pass all of their exams so that they can be ready for next semester’s new and exciting curriculum. Everyone is getting ready for the big Transfiguration in professor McGonagall’s class. It’s one of the hardest. Last year, one of Malfoy’s followers accidentally transfigured the professor’s favorite pen into slim which she was not too happy about. The entire class laughed about it, but he ended up failing and has to stay back a semester from the rest of his class. Not to mention the points is cost the Slytherin house. Then there’s the Defense Against the Dark Arts midterm that was a bit difficult for Harry a few years back a required to bit of preparation on his part before the midterm so that he could pass it. And pass it he did with flying colors. He successfully got that Bogart back into its hiding position without a doubt. Preparing for these and other midterms requires quite a bit of work, but that’s why student are sure to take their Swanson Vitamins to keep up with their hectic schedules.

Students also are encourage to get a good bit of exercise in at least once a day to keep the body and mind focused, but to also give some relief from charms, potions, and astronomy. So some students have taken to running on their Proform Treadmills. Still others have taken to the skies on their brooms, as a release from their midterms at Hogwarts.
